- ➤ The Conoco Dog Park officially opened today on Wichita Falls east side — hosting a Lucky Leprechaun Dog Parade and a best dressed contest for dogs of all sizes — as Parks officials plan to add a parking lot and picnic tables once additional funds become available. News Channel 6
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wichita Falls ISD announced that for the 2026-2027 school year, principals at Memorial, Legacy, and the Career Education Center will take on new roles that match their strengths. Each leader will spend several days weekly at their future campus to connect with students and staff. News Channel 6
- ➤ Midwestern State University will offer an online Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership in Fall 2026 pending approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board + it was approved by the Texas Tech University System Board on Feb. 26, targeting military-connected students and professionals in business, healthcare and public service. - ➤ A Memorial High School teacher was named the WFISD Teacher Spotlight winner for March. The district announced the honor, recognizing the teacher for exceptional classroom performance. News Channel 6
- ➤ Officials announced Thursday that TEA will not take over WFISD, so Superintendent Donny Lee and the locally elected board will keep control over the district while the agency prepares to monitor academics. Times Record News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, Mar. 5, the U.S. Drought Monitor showed that Wichita County remained in D1 moderate drought while several North Texas counties experienced D2 severe drought and two southern Oklahoma counties were rated D3 extreme drought, with updates adding new county ratings. News Channel 6
