Good morning, Wichita Falls. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 21st of March.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fajita Pete’s will open for business Monday in Crossroads Center at 2708 Southwest Parkway in Wichita Falls—an eatery specializing in fajitas and Tex-Mex dishes that offers takeout, delivery and limited indoor seating via an app. Local owners Cody and Katelyn Miller said the Houston-based franchise will serve customers from 11 a.m.—8 p.m. Monday through Saturday while remaining closed on Sundays.  Times Record News
  • The city of Wichita Falls approved an agreement with the 7 Brew coffee chain to build a new turn lane and traffic signal at Kemp and Piedmont that will ease traffic near a soon-to-open store. The franchise will hire 50 to 60 employees at this location and add over 100 new jobs between its two locations (with construction expected to finish around the end of May or early June).  News Channel 6

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA Texas reported that the statewide average for regular fuel is $2.76 per gallon today, which is 10 cents higher than last week (41 cents lower than a year ago) as refineries begin switching to summer-blend gasoline that costs more to produce.  News Channel 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Texas Senate passed Senate Bill 3 on March 19, which bans retail sale of THC products and sets up fees and penalties for hemp-derived cannabinoids—action that state Sen. Charles Perry, who represents parts of Texoma including Wichita County, praised alongside Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick. The bill may affect thousands of stores as the Texas House considers a separate proposal for stricter hemp oversight.  Texoma's Homepage
