CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A former Wichita Falls resident (60-year-old Allyson Renea Forbins) pleaded guilty to intoxicated manslaughter and intoxicated assault with a vehicle for a DWI crash that killed 57-year-old Natalie Jo Brown and injured her husband; she received concurrent five-year prison sentences and was held in Wichita County Jail pending her transfer to prison. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wichita River Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will hold its first meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Forum, 2120 Speedway Ave — retired wildlife biologist Ricky Linex will present on the medicinal uses of over 45 native plants used by many tribes in Texas and the Southern US, and the program is free and open to everyone. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today at 10:15 a.m., several agencies including the Texas Department of Public Safety will hold the Shattered Dreams safety exercise at City View High School to show the dangers of drinking and driving among youth. The program will use activated lights and sirens to simulate a crash and then move indoors for videos and discussions. Times Record News
- ➤ Tuesday, the Wichita Falls City Council met behind closed doors for six hours to review hiring a new city manager to replace longtime manager Darron Leiker. No action was taken in the meeting (and the search has been narrowed to five finalists including Bob Cowell, Eric Garretty, Tiffany Fell, Jeff Jenkins, and Scot Rigby). Times Record News
