- ➤ A 77-foot cross was completed on Interstate 44 between Wichita Falls and Burkburnett after more than two years of construction. Local officials and community members attended the dedication ceremony (initiated by an anonymous donation) as the illuminated cross (showing Bible scriptures about Jesus' final days) now stands visible from the highway. - ➤ Severe thunderstorms produced two-inch hail that damaged greenhouses and trees at Smith's Gardentown on Seymour Highway, causing the bedding plant greenhouse roof to collapse and stripping bark and leaves from shrubs. Chief operating officer Michael Fiore said cleanup began and the insurance claim process is underway as the family-owned center faces tens of thousands of dollars in repair costs — the incident significantly disrupted operations.
