Good morning, Wichita Falls.

Wichita Falls business owner Nichole Kirk was named Texas Small Business Person of the Year for 2026 on April 6.

She will be honored at ceremonies in Washington, D.C. on May 3-4 — and at a North Texas awards luncheon on May 6 in Hurst.

The Wichita Falls Museum of Art will host a free Sketch a Pet event Saturday, 2-4 p.m. at (2 Eureka Circle) where local rescue groups bring adoptable dogs for guests to sketch and join hands-on art activities; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Records show a July WJE report indicates Sikes Senter’s redevelopment may retain restaurant row and the AMC theater while some tenant leases run until 2030.

Officials say no one will be evicted until demolition plans are finalized (tenant agreements include built-in 90-day termination clauses).
