  • Catholic Charities’ Northwest Campus will host its Fourth Annual Veterans Resource Fair on April 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Wichita Falls Public Library Room 205—60 vendors will offer resources for veterans, active military personnel and their families at this free event.  Texoma's Homepage

  • The Burkburnett community is mourning Memphis Parkey, a beloved member of the FFA at Burkburnett High School who died Saturday. Support resources have been available since Monday, April 7 for students and staff coping with the loss.  Texoma's Homepage
  • On April 3, Atmos Energy donated $5,000 to Child Care Partners, a nonprofit that runs six child care centers and aids low-income families. The donation is part of its Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities initiative—supporting children's literacy programs after the nonprofit served about 300 children in 2024.  Texoma's Homepage

  • Workforce Solutions North Texas announced its Teacher Externship Program will return this summer to offer a 5 day, 30 hour externship with local employers+ up to 35 educators from several counties including Wichita can apply before applications close on April 18th to earn $1,000 and gain hands-on career experience in their classrooms.  News Channel 6

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • After a chilly start that saw a temperature drop to 34°F on Sunday night, Wichita Falls residents now expect spring weather with daytime highs in the 70s and 80s and overnight lows above freezing. Recent weekend rain raised lake levels to 67.9% capacity and erased a precipitation deficit, though a powerful thunderstorm on Saturday caused hail damage.  Times Record News
