  • Historic Floral Heights Methodist Church, a community landmark that closed in June last year after over 100 years of service, is now listed on a national auction website with a minimum bid of $150,000—its tax roll value exceeds $5 million—and bidding will begin in May. Trustee Larry Parks hopes the new owner will keep it as a church so it can serve Wichita Falls families for another century.  News Channel 6

  • Wichita Falls police arrested Kelcee Danielle Derrick—charged with evading arrest, reckless driving, and unlawful carrying of a weapon—from Wise County after a short car chase on Monday, April 7 when she sped past the 100 block of Indiana Avenue following an attempted traffic stop.  Texoma's Homepage
  • A Wichita Falls teen pleaded guilty to murder at 78th District Court on Friday—he received a 45-year prison sentence as part of a plea deal that reduced a capital murder charge to murder.  Times Record News

  • The family of Shatanya Clarke is asking for donations to support the Shatanya Clarke Larger Than Life Scholarship that will help African American women pursue careers in journalism, public relations and mass communication while honoring her legacy. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • After Saturday's large hailstorm, Wichita Falls officials urged homeowners with low to moderate income to use the Minor and Emergency Repair Program for needed repairs—such as roofing, plumbing, HVAC and electrical—if they are not receiving federal disaster funds or insurance. The program offers up to $7,000 per single-family residence and has been used more after extreme weather, according to Director Terry Floyd.  News Channel 6
