  • Jesus Gospel Park is partnering with local businesses to display the story of Christ’s resurrection at eight locations in Wichita Falls. The displays were set up on April 1 and will remain until April 21—featuring sites like Wayland Baptist University and local eateries—to offer visitors a unique way to experience Easter.  Texoma's Homepage
  • Wichita Falls Area Community Foundation announced that it will host its 10th and final Texoma Gives online giving event on Sept. 4 from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. The event has raised nearly $13 million over 10 years for nonprofits in Texas and Oklahoma and registration for area nonprofits will open June 5.  Times Record News
  • The Family Initiative urged Wichita Falls parents to help teens drive safely by not texting while driving and using phone-disabling apps—after 3,275 people died in distracted driving crashes in 2023—and to enforce strict rules.  News Channel 6

  • La Mexicana Meat Market is under construction at 3906 Old Jacksboro Highway, where a former Family Dollar store once stood, and is expected to open in mid-June after material shortages delayed its planned April start—Misael Santoyo from Wichita Santoyo LLC said a $1 million remodel is underway for the 7,220‑square‑foot building that has been empty since May 2023.  Times Record News

  • Wichita Falls Area Crime Stoppers is seeking 42-year-old Jack Gant—described as a 6′01 man with blue eyes and blonde hair—wanted for burglary and advises anyone who sees him to call 940-322-9888 rather than confront him.  News Channel 6
  • Gloria Ann Jordan, 44, was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the death of her mother, Gloria Equilla Farmer, 70, when Thirtieth District Judge Jeff McKnight ruled she sat in a 'prayer position' on her mother's chest until she stopped breathing—ordering her to be committed to a mental facility.  Times Record News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, students, teachers, and staff at Burkburnett High School wore purple to honor military-connected students on Purple Day (part of the Month of Military Children). They celebrated with group photos and shared treats to show support for students who face extra challenges from frequent moves.  News Channel 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced that emergency preparation items such as household batteries, fuel containers, flashlights and portable generators will be tax-free from Saturday, April 26th to Monday, April 28th—shoppers are expected to save about $2.3 million in state and local sales taxes.  News Channel 6
  • Recent rains and improved drought conditions led the Wichita County Commissioners Court to lift the ban on outdoor burning in unincorporated areas on Tuesday—this ban had been in place since March 13 when dry weather and strong winds increased wildfire risk.  Times Record News
  • Each year the second week of April honored Wichita Falls emergency dispatchers who handle calls for fire, police, medical and county emergencies. Dispatcher Justin Goodwin said local support—like cookouts and phone calls—helped his team manage challenging calls.  News Channel 6
