  • Wichita Falls police charged an eighth person, William Edward Hunter, with unlawful possession of a firearm due to a prior felony conviction in connection with the murder investigation of 28 year old Trevanian Mitchel who was shot on May 6, 2024 — he is held in Wichita County Jail on a $250,000 bond.  Times Record News
  • Three WFISD schools are secured as law enforcement continue a manhunt for an unnamed suspect at The Career Education Center, Legacy High School and Southern Hills Elementary, and WFISD said they will share more details as available.  News Channel 6

  • Wichita Falls Independent School District celebrated top teachers yesterday by awarding Teacher of the Year to Jamie Cove (Scotland Park Elementary) and Logan Parrish (Legacy High) and introduced a new paraprofessional award for Alfred Strachan at Barwise Middle School.  Texoma's Homepage
  • The race for Place 1 on the Electra Independent School District Board is underway as former teacher Kortney Thaggard and Painted Ice Snow cones owner Louis Booth run for the open seat—board member Rhonda Swenson steps down.   • Texas residents who plan to fly or visit federal sites must update their IDs to meet REAL ID rules starting May 7 — a golden star on a license shows compliance, while those without it will need a passport or other approved ID — and they must appear in person at DPS with original documents.  Times Record News
