  • Brighter Days Wichita Falls will host a car show and cruise fundraiser on May 10 from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. at 700 Travis St.—the event will benefit the youth program that offers a safe environment for teens.  Texoma's Homepage
  • Texoma Cowboy Church will host Mutton Bustin’ — Stick Horse Rodeo Spring 2025 at TX Arena on May 17, offering family-friendly events such as stick horse speed races like clover leaf barrels, pole bending, and duck sorting.   • A combination Party for Prevention and HMG Baby Day event is set for 10 a.m.—3 p.m. Saturday at the former Old Navy location at SIKES Senter. The free event organized by the Wichita Falls Early Childhood Coalition will offer games, activities, prizes and bounce houses to support child abuse prevention and assist families with children up to 3.  Times Record News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Texas Department of Public Safety reported that 66-year-old Stephen Hart of Eaton, Colorado died in a crash on US 281 north of Windthorst at 6:20 a.m. on April 24 when he veered off the road while towing a trailer and crashed through a fence — his truck later stopped in a small creek.  Texoma's Homepage

CRIME NEWS

  • On Wednesday, three Wichita Falls public schools were put on secure status during a five-hour manhunt for a man wanted on theft, burglary and parole violation charges, and after police found no direct threat they lifted restrictions at two schools while Legacy High stayed locked—after-school activities there were canceled and officers later found the suspect under a beaver dam in a creek.  Times Record News

  • WFISD Superintendent Donny Lee said on Thursday that no schools will close or be taken over by the state after TEA gave the district a C rating for 2022-23 — he noted that outdated data influenced the results and that new grades for 2023-24 will be released soon.  Times Record News
