  • City of Wichita Falls Animal Services named 10—week—old cat Bolt as Pet of the Week on May 9; his name comes from a distinctive pattern on his rear and the $40 adoption fee covers a microchip, initial vaccinations that do not include rabies and flea and tick prevention.  News Channel 6

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A pedestrian was struck in Burkburnett on May 9 at 10:50 a.m. when a man tried crossing northbound 44 near Sheppard Road and a truck swerved to hit him with its passenger side—emergency crews responded and the victim was careflighted to Fort Worth in critical condition with no criminal charges filed.  Texoma's Homepage

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA Texas reported that a weak gas demand and healthy supply have kept regular unleaded fuel at an average of $2.75 per gallon—one cent lower than last week and 49 cents lower than last year. OPEC+ announced it will boost output in June, which may drive crude prices lower and lead to summer savings for local drivers.  News Channel 6

EDUCATION NEWS

  • City View Junior High held its FFA plant sale to raise funds for agriculture classes, with teacher Kennedy Swan explaining that money from the sale will help fund trips, contests and scholarships. Students gained hands-on experience in growing and arranging plants—learning basic floral design—while the sale runs today from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  News Channel 6

  • On Friday, May 9, the City of Wichita Falls announced an update on flood-affected streets — the Emergency Operations Center was deactivated when the river level dropped below 14 feet and all streets have reopened.  Texoma's Homepage
  • After full-day meetings on May 9 and a morning session on May 10, the Wichita Falls Fire Department and the City reached an arbitration agreement at about 2:15 p.m. at the MPEC—this is the first such agreement since collective bargaining and binding arbitration were approved in November.  Texoma's Homepage
