  • AAA Texas is urging drivers to prepare for triple-digit temperatures that may lead to dead batteries, engine trouble, and flat tires—raising the risk of vehicle breakdowns. They recommend checking battery, coolant, and tire pressure and keeping an emergency kit in the car for roadside safety.  News Channel 6
  • Volunteers and community leaders learned a 10-step process for restoring Wichita County historical markers at a demonstration held Thursday at the Museum of North Texas History and the Wichita County Courthouse — the Landmark Commission provided refinishing kits for public use to help preserve over 100 markers around the county.  Times Record News

  • Today, Texas DPS is partnering with law enforcement from Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. to enforce the Move Over, Slow Down law across the state—a multi-state effort aimed at preventing further injuries and fatalities after past crashes involving stationary patrol vehicles.  Times Record News
  • Feeding Texas warns that the House Agriculture Committee’s reconciliation bill released on May 12 would cut SNAP funding by $230 billion — limiting adjustments to the Thrifty Food Plan, excluding refugees, and requiring states to pay part of benefit amounts, a change that could force hundreds of thousands into hunger.  News Channel 6
