  • Meals on Wheels of Wichita County is facing a volunteer shortage as many helpers are recovering from surgery or battling cancer and a new delivery route has been added that requires five more drivers+ without enough volunteers, clients risk missing essential meals and safety check-ins.  Texoma's Homepage

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Wichita Falls firefighters responded to a 1:25 a.m. call early Thursday to a burning vacant house on the 1800 block of Ninth Street—this property had burned twice before and showed signs of vagrant activity while no injuries were reported.  Times Record News
  • Police and fire department responders reached a wreck on Northwest Freeway near City View Drive around 3:30 p.m. where a red sedan hit a work truck and caused traffic to back up as far as Atwoods by 4:40 p.m.—the sedan driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital with minor injuries.  News Channel 6
  • Wichita Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the 1800 block of 9th Street today at 1:30 a.m.—no injuries were reported and officials are investigating a property that has burned twice before and shows signs of vagrant activity.  News Channel 6

  • Local country artist Robert Rodriguez will debut his new single 'Only One for Me' at a Big Blue concert in downtown Wichita Falls on Saturday, June 7 at 8 p.m. He will perform for a $10 entry fee & Homeless Lives Matter will be on site to offer free goodies to all ages.  Texoma's Homepage

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Federico Pena, the financial aid director at Midwestern State University, said changes to FAFSA have extended the processing timeline and caused errors for students who had to change their plans after a delay last December. The Department of Education will open the 2026-27 FAFSA on Oct. 1 and the financial aid office is set to help students complete their applications.  News Channel 6
  • TexasWorks announced that a new tuition-free campus will open in Wichita Falls this year to help adults (18-50) earn high school diplomas and career certifications with flexible schedules, online and in-person classes, and support services such as childcare, transportation and mental health assistance.  Times Record News

  • At 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Wichita Falls City Council will vote on ending drought restrictions for water customers after lake Arrowhead and Kickapoo reached 97.3% capacity—councilors will also review proposals to extend the Circle Trail, including a public hearing near Lake Wichita and a grant for a section from Camp Fire Property to Lucy Park.  Times Record News
  • The city of Wichita Falls will hold an auction of surplus equipment and salvage material at the Central Services Complex (2100 Seymour Highway) on Saturday. Preview and preregistration begin today at 10 a.m., with gates opening at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and bidding set to start at 10 a.m.  Times Record News
