  • The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank released results from its Stamp Out Hunger campaign held on May 11 that raised 38,303 pounds of food—enough for 31,919 meals across 12 counties. The food bank also asked the community for volunteers to help continue its mission.  News Channel 6

  • Wichita Falls Police are investigating a shooting on the 2100 block of Princeton Ave (early Wednesday morning on May 28) and ask anyone with video, dashcam or cell phone footage to contact them.  News Channel 6

  • Timothy Greenfield-Sanders' The Boomer List exhibition shows 19 large portraits of famous baby boomers including Samuel L. Jackson, Rosie O'Donnell and Billy Joel at the Wichita Falls Museum of Art at MSU, and the exhibit opened May 22 and will run until Jan. 24.  Times Record News

  • Texas A&M AgriLife released an updated fact sheet advising local ranchers on screwworm dangers to livestock after the USDA suspended cattle imports from Mexico in May. Officials are working with Mexican counterparts—aiming to reduce potential economic losses if the insect spreads north.  News Channel 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Wichita Falls City Council will vote Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the MPEC Seminar Room on a collective bargaining agreement with the firefighters union—this 39-page ordinance provides a minimum 10% annual pay raise, raises the hiring age to 39 and requires a minimum staffing level of 41 per shift; the meeting is open to the public.  Times Record News
  • Wichita Falls Regional Airport is finalizing its 20-year master plan to guide future development after display boards on May 28 showed plans for acquiring land—along with a potential expansion from Sheppard Air Force Base.   • The City of Wichita Falls warned residents yesterday about a new text scam urging them to take a quick Wichita Falls City issues survey followed by a suspicious link.
