  • Residents in Wichita Falls can celebrate National Trail Day on Saturday by enjoying the nearly 20 miles of paved Circle Trail designed for non-motorized activities. City officials have secured funding to complete a section at Lucy Park and have applied for a grant to finish a one-mile stretch near Lake Wichita—an effort that began in 1987.  Times Record News
  • The Circle Trail in Wichita Falls offers many paths for walking, running, hiking and biking as locals prepare to celebrate National Trail Day on Saturday—its over-20-mile route winds through parks and will soon be expanded to complete a 24-mile loop.  Times Record News
  • All Hands Playwell Summer Camp in Wichita Falls offers children a mix of swimming, reading, math, and life skills classes for $20 while including free meals for families in need.   • Don Youngblood, the longtime owner of Youngblood’s Cut-Rate on Jacksboro Highway in Wichita Falls, died at age 86 on Sunday after working that morning. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home — his store served as a community hub with credit options and an annual Halloween bicycle giveaway.  Times Record News

CRIME NEWS

  • WFPD announced that in a multi-agency drug investigation that began in October 2022 and was later taken over by the FBI in early 2023, 21 suspects pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges after agencies including the Texas Department of Public Safety, Wichita County Sheriff’s Office, and U.S. Marshal Service conducted surveillance, interviews, search warrants, and controlled drug buys that seized over 6,700 grams of meth, cocaine, and crack, counterfeit M-30 pills laced with Fentanyl, firearms, and $80,714 in cash — an effort to curb illegal narcotics distribution in Wichita Falls and North Texas.  News Channel 6

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Olney High School earned a third-place trophy from the UIL State Meet after 12 students competed at the University of Texas on May 19 and May 20. The school finished with 103 points out of 129 high schools+ marking its first top five finish in history, improving from last year’s eighth place.  Texoma's Homepage

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wichita Falls city council signed a resolution on Tuesday, June 3 to support the Circle Trail project and apply for a TxDOT grant; if approved, the grant will cover 80% of the $5.6 million cost (the city will match 20%) and officials expect a decision by October with project completion taking about two-and-a-half years.  Texoma's Homepage
