  • A group of women from Sober Living, Inc. will host a car wash at Autozone at 3307 Kemp Blvd. on June 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — they will raise funds for a camping trip to Lake Murray for themselves and their families.  Texoma's Homepage
  • City of Wichita Falls Animal Services introduced Teddy, a playful 10-month-old border collie mix, as this week’s Pet of the Week. The $40 adoption fee covers a microchip, initial vaccinations (excluding rabies), and flea and tick preventative.  News Channel 6
  • Emily’s Legacy Pet Rescue has named Patter as Pet of the Week, a friendly four-year-old dog known to be great with kids, families and other dogs. The group will be at Petco today from noon to 4 p.m. —with adoption fees set at $140 for dogs and $125 for cats—.  News Channel 6
  • Residents in Wichita Falls and Archer County have been dealing with a dangerous road full of deep potholes for three years — a problem that once caused a winter accident — and they are now using GoFundMe to raise funds, having reached $1,300 of a $1,500 goal while they plan next steps if officials do not act soon.  Texoma's Homepage

  • Authorities arrested a second suspect—Rahab Ontiveros—in connection with a fake drug deal that turned violent at Love’s Truck Stop on May 30 when Pedro Martinez was shot, and she now faces charges with a $750,000 bond.  Texoma's Homepage

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city hired Garver Engineering to study improvements for the 54-foot artificial falls along the Wichita River at Central Freeway, aiming to enhance water clarity, flood prevention, access, and lighting while keeping basic renovation costs near $5 million — detailed plans will be presented in October.  Times Record News
  • Feeding Texas and 250 statewide groups sent a letter to Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz asking them to reject proposed SNAP cuts that would remove $300 billion and add $2.3 billion in costs per biennium while hurting Texan families, seniors and veterans. The letter warns that SNAP supported $10.73 billion in local economic activity and over 94,000 jobs in 2024.  News Channel 6

  • From May 24-June 5, the Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District inspected restaurants, food stores, and school and daycare facilities to ensure they meet state food safety rules.
