Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wichita County and the Wichita Falls Founder Lions Club are collecting essential cleaning supplies for Kerr County flood victims after deadly floods over the weekend—drop-offs are accepted Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1526 Weeks Street, Suite A and Alan Donaldson State Farm, 2301 Midwestern Parkway, 115B.

A large power outage hit central and southern Wichita Falls on Sunday evening, leaving homes and businesses without power.

Oncor reported that over 1,900 customers were affected—more than 1,000 between Midwestern State University and Castaway Cove Waterpark plus over 900 near United Regional Hospital—with power expected to be restored between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Wichita Falls Mayor Tim Short said he asked for prayers and monetary donations to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund run by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country because Kerrville does not need food or water donations and has enough volunteers.

He urged local residents to pray for those affected by the floods and for Wichita Falls firefighters helping in Kerr County — a call that came as the recovery effort continued.
