  • Bridwell Park's basketball and futsal courts got a new mural by artist Jeremy Jarvis, which was dedicated on July 10 — local officials and neighborhood groups attended the event to support the park's revitalization.   • Backdoor Theatre in downtown Wichita Falls is launching a new improv troupe to help veterans share their stories and build connections after receiving a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in June. ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA Texas reported that Wichita Falls gas prices are now $2.69 per gallon compared to a state average of $2.81, up nine cents from last week. The report noted that Texas gas prices remain some of the lowest in four years.  News Channel 6

  • Sheppard Air Force Base will host a Career and Education Fair on August 26 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Sheppard Events Center—attendees with base access should bring their resumes to connect with top employers and schools.  Texoma's Homepage
  • Region 9 Education Service Center’s Adult Education & Literacy program will host a graduation ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26 at 301 Loop 11 to honor 11 students who received their high school equivalency certificates.   • WFISD school board partnered with Third Future Schools to boost every Hirschi Middle School student’s academic success — promising longer school days, a more rigorous curriculum, and a focus on math, reading, and leadership — as the program for sixth through eighth grade will begin in the 2025–2026 school year following a well-attended parent meeting.  Texoma's Homepage

  • A come-and-go informational meeting on proposed zoning amendments for the Heart of the Falls Neighborhood Revitalization Area will be held in room 205 of the Wichita Falls Public Library on July 17 at 6 p.m.—citizens can ask questions and share feedback during the session.  Texoma's Homepage
  • Wichita Falls City Council will meet on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at the MPEC (1000 Fifth St.) to consider purchasing two new buses for $1,361,532, allocating $2,450,584 in federal and state funds, and rezoning 40 acres on Gregg Road for commercial and residential development. The council will also discuss suspending Oncor Electric's July 31 rate change request and review additional city service expenditures in a closed-door session to address litigation and project negotiations.  Times Record News
