  • Fur Ball II will take over the Forum on August 9 to support the Humane Society—tickets are $100 for an individual and $800 for a table that includes a meal and drink tickets.   • A former Wichita Falls pastor pleaded guilty on July 11 in the 78th District Court to charges of indecency with a child and aggravated sexual assault of a child—his plea agreement dropped a continuous sexual abuse charge and set concurrent prison terms of 30 years for each assault count and 20 years for the indecency charge.  Texoma's Homepage
  • Ronald Arthur Burdick, charged with the murder of Michael Wesley Randall who was fatally shot on June 9, will face trial Monday in the 30th District Courtroom in Wichita Falls — he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.  Times Record News
  • A 33-year-old Allen man pleaded guilty to running a fentanyl operation from a Wichita Falls motel — he received 30 years for organized criminal activity and 10 years for bail jumping, with both sentences set to run concurrently.  Texoma's Homepage

  • Texas officials warned today that the USDA has restricted livestock trade after a confirmed new world screw worm case was reported just across the Mexican border — experts say the pest could cause huge losses for ranchers if it spreads.   • Texas Tech Chancellor Tedd Mitchell announced he plans to retire within the next year—he will stay on while the board selects his successor. Board chairman Cody Campbell praised Mitchell’s innovative leadership during his 15-year tenure in the TTU system.  News Channel 6
  • WFISD school board will meet Monday, July 14 at 1 p.m. at the Education Center (1104 Broad Street) to discuss compliance with Senate Bill 13, which sets guidelines for reviewing school library content.
