- ➤ Wichita Falls city officials suspended the effective date of Oncor’s proposed high electricity rate that would raise residential bills by 12% and city charges by more than 50%—to protect residents and ease budget strains. - ➤ Wichita Falls Police Department announced on social media that officers are preparing for Operation Slow Down— a statewide-funded campaign running from July 18 through Aug. 3— to catch speeders on local roads, and Sergeant Jerad Miller said most speeders are travelers passing through town. - ➤ Wichita Falls city council approved spending $1,361,532 to buy two new buses using state credits—these buses will replace older ones nearing 700,000 miles and are expected to arrive in 18 to 20 months.
