  • Atmos Energy is urging homeowners, contractors and excavators in Wichita Falls to call 811 before digging—since over half of natural gas leaks are caused by even minor damage to pipelines.  News Channel 6
  • The Rev. Dr. Robert M. Castle retired after serving as pastor at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church for 51 years until July 30 + he will return occasionally as a guest preacher.  Times Record News

  • The Wichita Falls Housing Authority has reopened its housing waitlists for a limited time until Oct. 31; nearly 200 people have already applied. Executive Director Paris Ward said updates in the homes—such as new stoves and ceiling fans—aim to improve community, safety and comfort.  News Channel 6
  • The city of Wichita Falls settled a lawsuit after a child was injured on Castaway Cove’s 'Cliffhanger' slide— the settlement reached on July 25 provided annuity payments and paid attorney fees even though the amount was not disclosed.  Times Record News
  • City Manager Jeffrey Jenkins said Tuesday that contract mowers may be hired next week to trim overgrown weeds and help with code enforcement after heavy rains, and the city received eight bids for the work. At the same meeting, councilors increased the city’s share in the firefighter retirement fund, approved a $1.05M water project with Bowles Construction, spent on a dog park and library upgrades, and held a closed session to discuss buying Sikes Senter for $28M to later sell for redevelopment—actions that set several city projects in motion.  Times Record News
