- ➤ Emily’s Legacy Rescue introduced Grog, an 11-week-old busy kitten and Pet of the Week, advising adopters to keep him in a safe space with food, water and a litter box—he will be available for adoption at Petco today from noon to 4 p.m. News Channel 6
- ➤ The Texas Historical Commission approved 13 new historical markers for Wichita County, including one to remember the Terrible Tuesday tornado of 1979 that will be placed in Rotary Park. Nine markers will be installed at Riverside Cemetery to honor local trailblazers and are expected to appear within the next two to three years. News Channel 6
- ➤ The City of Wichita Falls Animal Services named Junebug, a 7-month-old husky-shepherd mix (energetic by report), as Pet of the Week. Her $40 adoption fee is waived during the Clear the Shelter event. News Channel 6
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Vernon College spent $2 million renovating its 1980s dorms in 11 weeks with updates including new flooring, ceilings, closets and bathrooms. The newly updated dorms will serve as students' homes when classes begin on August 20. News Channel 6
- ➤ Wichita Falls Barber Academy is hosting a Back-to-School Bash for students and families as the new school year begins, and organizers will release more event details soon. News Channel 6
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Memorial Stadium has been upgraded with new LED lighting by Wichita Falls ISD to boost game-day fun and honor its long history. The district said local teams will use the improved facility — they are getting ready for the upcoming football season. News Channel 6
