  • Wichita Falls Animal Services has named Pepperoni Pet of the Week. The 5-month old dog arrived as a puppy in April—he is available for adoption at 1207 Hatton Rd for a $40 fee and with prepaid neutering and rabies shot.  News Channel 6

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Every year, the Hotter'N Hell Hundred brings thousands of visitors to Wichita Falls and generates about $10 million in revenue (from spending on food, lodging, and retail) that supports local businesses. Ron Kitchens from the Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce said the race helps boost a slow period for restaurants and hotels (and other shops in the area).  News Channel 6

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The City of Wichita Falls will launch a GoatScaping program that uses 300 to 400 goats and sheep at three sites to clear hard-to-reach vegetation, reduce wildfire risk, and improve drainage flow. The work will begin the week of Monday, August 25—residents are urged to keep a safe distance from the protected animals and electric fencing—while a herder supervises the project.  News Channel 6
