COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Salvation Army has set up red kettles at local businesses to help families in need through a campaign running from early November until Christmas Eve—aiming to raise $160,000 after $151,000 was collected last year. The funds will support essential services like food, shelter, and social programs across Wichita Falls.  News Channel 6

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Arts Council of Wichita Falls announced the 6x6 ROYGBIV exhibit to support local art programs — officials said more details on the event date, time and venue will be shared later.  News Channel 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wichita Falls introduced a new tornado siren policy as Fire Chief Cody Melton told City Council Tuesday that all 53 sirens will sound when the National Weather Service issues a tornado warning or when a trained storm spotter observes a tornado or funnel cloud (to improve clarity). Under the new plan, the sirens will sound for 3 minutes, rest for 5 minutes and repeat until the warning ends (eliminating the all-clear tone).  Times Record News
  • The northbound and southbound lanes of Brook Avenue between Elizabeth Avenue and 11th Street are closed today for a large water main break repair; officials will reopen the road when both repairs are complete—drivers should take an alternate route to avoid delays.  News Channel 6

SPORTS NEWS

  • The MSU Cycling team won big at a Texas A&M event at Bluff Creek Ranch where Blake Keeling, Mauri Maldonado, and Cole Barrera finished first, second, and third—Emma Kasza-James also took first in Category A. The team claimed top spots last week in the 100-mile Cooler n’Hell gravel race hosted by the city.  News Channel 6
  • Christ Academy volleyball won its first playoff match and is chasing a sixth straight state title—head coach AJ Diaz said the team uses fun drills to ease pressure. Senior players are focusing on basic skills to keep their edge in the playoffs—she added that practice helps them stay relaxed and ready.  News Channel 6
