COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Yesterday, Midwestern State University revived its Veterans Day ceremony after a five-year break to honor service members by ringing 11 bells from Hardin Tower to mark the end of World War I and inviting veterans from all six military branches to place small flags in wreaths—honoring their service. Speakers said the event reminded the community to stay grateful for the sacrifices that make everyday freedoms possible.  News Channel 6
  • Today, Windthorst ISD held its Veterans Day ceremony to honor local service members—Principal Daniel Williams said the event recognizes veterans’ sacrifices and their continued contributions to the community.  News Channel 6
  • The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution on November 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—the event at the Sheppard Bus Stop near Sheppard Air Force Base will benefit federal employees, military personnel and others affected by the government shutdown, and it will proceed even if the shutdown ends before Saturday.  News Channel 6
  • Atmos Energy donated $20,000 to Interfaith Outreach to help local residents face energy bill emergencies. The group works with local organizations in Archer and Wichita Counties to offer essential support during hard times.  News Channel 6
  • United Supermarkets and Market Street have kicked off their annual U Can Share campaign — a drive where customers can add any donation to their grocery bill to help the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank until Nov. 23. The food bank serves 40,000 food insecure people in 12 counties.  Times Record News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • WFISD is planning to add wrestling for Legacy and Memorial high schools starting in 2026-27 with over $180,000 in startup funds and the proposal may be approved at 6 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the WFISD Education Center—while the district also received high marks on its external audit and renewed staff retention incentives to ease transitions.  Times Record News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • City officials say that after historic spring rainfall, Wichita Falls reservoirs have stayed nearly full and will secure water supply into next year — local fishing guides report improved fishing conditions from higher lake levels.  News Channel 6

HEALTH NEWS

  • United Regional Health Care System began construction on a new $45 million outpatient imaging center at the corner of 12th and Alma streets adjacent to its hospital. The two-story, 53,000-square-foot facility — offering MRI, CT, ultrasound, mammography and diagnostic services — is expected to be complete by December 2026.  Times Record News

SPORTS NEWS

  • City View quarterback Malachi Williams was named this week’s Game Changer after he threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns in the Mustangs' blowout win—he has more than 2,000 passing yards and 28 touchdowns this season. Head coach Akeem Leviston said Williams' leadership is key as the team prepares for a first-round playoff game Friday—his strong play helps drive their success.  News Channel 6
