Yesterday, Midwestern State University revived its Veterans Day ceremony after a five-year break to honor service members by ringing 11 bells from Hardin Tower to mark the end of World War I and inviting veterans from all six military branches to place small flags in wreaths—honoring their service. Speakers said the event reminded the community to stay grateful for the sacrifices that make everyday freedoms possible.

Today, Windthorst ISD held its Veterans Day ceremony to honor local service members—Principal Daniel Williams said the event recognizes veterans’ sacrifices and their continued contributions to the community.

The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution on November 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.—the event at the Sheppard Bus Stop near Sheppard Air Force Base will benefit federal employees, military personnel and others affected by the government shutdown, and it will proceed even if the shutdown ends before Saturday.
