- ➤ Yesterday, the Wichita County Sheriff's Office delivered Angel Tree Christmas gifts at Patsy's House Children's Advocacy Center, the Helen Farabee Center on Denver Street & Faith Refuge in Wichita Falls. This annual operation supported local families during the holiday season. Times Record News
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ AAA projects 9.4 million Texans will travel at least 50 miles during the 13-day holiday period from Dec. 20 to Jan. 1 (a 1.7% increase from last year) as lower gas prices aim to ease congestion ahead of Christmas. News Channel 6
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Chesterton Academy bought the former Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church building near Rider Middle School and will move in before next school year to allow for growing enrollment. News Channel 6
- ➤ WFISD hosted its traditional holiday open house where students and staff sang cheerful songs to bring families together. The event raised funds for special education (raffle prizes will be given at the holiday party on Dec. 19). News Channel 6
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Texas Parks and Wildlife is urging caution as the highly pathogenic avian influenza spreads among wild birds amid winter migration. The agency advises wildlife rehabilitators and the public to limit contact with birds (including avoiding feeders and baths) to help prevent further spread. News Channel 6
