- ➤ The Wichita Falls-Wichita County Public Health District confirmed the first human West Nile Virus case in Wichita County this year—verified by the Texas Department of State Health Services laboratory. City officials also reported that 21 mosquito samples tested positive for West Nile Virus and one sample near Russell Drive west of Sheppard Air Force Base tested positive for Saint Louis Encephalitis Virus.
